1. Overview
Welcome to Oret, our website and app make it easy for you to build your family tree, upload photos, and share updates with your loved ones through messaging and status posts.
The Service is made available on Oret.africa , Oret mobile apps, and in other forms provided or made available by Oret. Your use of the Service is subject to these Terms and conditions. By using the Service you acknowledge also Oret’s Privacy Policy.
You may use the Service only if you can form a binding contract with Oret and are legally permitted to do so. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you have the full right, power and authority to agree to and be bound by these Terms and to fully perform all of your obligations hereunder.
By continuing to use the Site, you agree to abide by these Conditions of Use. We reserve the right to alter, suspend, discontinue, or limit any aspect, feature, or content of the Site without any liability or notice, including restricting your access to certain features or sections of the Site.
If you do not agree to these Conditions of Use in their entirety, please exit the Site now.All references to ‘our’, ‘us’, ‘we’, or ‘company’ within these terms are deemed to refer to Oret
Registration
To begin using our site or app, users are required to create an account by providing personal details such as their name, email address, and password. Once registration is complete, users are directed to the Family section where they can enter the details of their family, including their tribe clans’ totems and family names. After providing family details, users are directed to the dashboard where they can manage their account and access different features of the website
You are responsible for keeping your Account access details confidential and secure, and for any activity that occurs on your Account. You confirm that you are of legal age or using the Service under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
If you are a minor, your parent or guardian must read and agree to these Terms before you can use the Service. We have the right to suspend or terminate your Account or access to the Service if you violate these Terms.
If you suspect any unauthorized use of your Account or any security breach,you must notify us immediately. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in loss or damage for which we will not be liable.
Family tree
Our platform provides a family tree feature that allows users to add their family members and extend their family tree by adding other family members. Users are responsible for ensuring that the information they provide about family members is accurate and up-to-date. The spouse profile includes an option for users to add information about the family their spouse comes from, and for sisters to add information about the family they married into. Users must ensure that they have the consent of the family members concerned before adding their information to the family tree.
Users may only add family members to the family tree if they have consent from the family member concerned, or if they are the parent, spouse, or child of the family member concerned. Only the website admin is allowed to edit the profile of other family members. Users can edit their own profile information and information about their direct family members.
Users must respect the privacy of other family members and not share any personal information about other family members without consent. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the family tree or any part thereof, at any time without prior notice. We do not claim ownership over any information added to the family tree by users.
Tree orders
As part of the Service, we offer the option to create and print a family tree. You can choose to print your family tree at home or order a physical copy to be delivered to your address. If you choose to order a physical copy, you will be required to pay a fee for the printing and shipping costs.
The fee for printing and shipping the family tree will be displayed to you before you confirm your order. Payment for the family tree and shipping costs must be made at the time of ordering.
We will deliver the family banner to the address provided by the member during the ordering process. Delivery times may vary depending on the location and availability of the delivery service. Members are responsible for ensuring that the delivery address is correct. The cost of the family banner and any applicable taxes will be displayed on our website during the ordering process. We do not offer refunds or returns on family banners as they are custom-made to the member’s specifications. However, if the banner is damaged during delivery, we will replace it free of charge. Members must notify us within 24 hours of receiving the banner if it is damaged.
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of the family tree or the purchase of a family banner, except where such loss or damage arises due to our negligence or breach of these terms and conditions.
Authorized Uses
Oret provides its members with the ability to create and upload content to the Oret website, including family-related content, and allows Members to manage access to that content by other users. As the nature of the Service involves personal information and family data, Members should carefully consider the information they choose to share and ensure that no illegal or inappropriate content is posted. Oret does not monitor or edit user-provided content, but we reserve the right to remove any content that we become aware of and believe, at our sole discretion, to be in violation of this Agreement
To provide examples, without limiting the scope, please refrain from using, transmitting, sharing, or otherwise making available through or in connection with the Service any of the following types of content:
Content that is offensive or promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence against any individual or group is not allowed.
Harassment of others is strictly prohibited.
Exploitative content, including sexual or violent material, is not allowed.
Content containing nudity, violence, offensive subjects, or links to adult websites is not permitted.
False, misleading, or illegal content, as well as abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory, or libelous content, is not allowed.
Content that promotes unauthorized copies of copyrighted material, such as pirated software or music, is prohibited.
Unsolicited mass communication, including junk mail, chain letters, spamming, and spimming, is not allowed.
Hidden pages or images, restricted or password-protected content, and pages that are not linked to or from another accessible page are prohibited.
Content that promotes criminal activities or provides instructions on illegal activities, such as creating viruses or making illegal weapons, is not allowed.
Solicitation of passwords or personal information for unlawful or commercial purposes is prohibited.
Commercial activities, such as sales, advertising, contests, sweepstakes, or pyramid schemes, require our prior written consent.
Infringement or misappropriation of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets.
It is not allowed to use HTML/CSS or any other means to cover or hide the banner advertisements on your personal profile page or any other Oret.com page.
The use of automated scripts to follow users, send comments or messages, or any other automated use of the system is strictly prohibited.
It is prohibited to interfere with, disrupt, or cause an undue burden on the Oret Services or any of the networks or services connected to the Oret Services.
You are not allowed to impersonate another Member or person or post any third party’s information (including family members) on the Oret Services without their permission.
Sharing your username, and password, or allowing a third party to access your account is strictly prohibited.
Selling or transferring your profile to another person is not permitted.
Using any information obtained from the Oret Services to harass, abuse, or harm another person is strictly prohibited.
Displaying advertisements on your profile or accepting payment from a third party in exchange for commercial activities on the Oret Services is not allowed.
The use of the Oret Services must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Using any automated system, including “robots,” “spiders,” or “offline readers,” that send more request messages to the Oret Services servers than a human can reasonably produce in the same period is prohibited.
Collecting or harvesting any personally identifiable information from the Oret Services or using the Oret Services for commercial solicitation without prior written consent from Oret.africa is not allowed.
Renting, leasing, transferring, selling, reselling, or otherwise exploiting any portion of or access to the Oret Services for any commercial purpose is strictly prohibited.
Content that violates our Privacy Policy
As a user of Oret, you agree to the following restrictions:
You must not misrepresent your identity or status or impersonate anyone else.
You must not claim to be an employee or representative of Oret or any of its affiliates.
You must not harass or contact other users without their consent or after their consent has been withdrawn.
You must not send spam emails or any other email that may harass its recipients.
You must not use Oret in a way that could damage our reputation.
You must not prevent other people from using the Website or Service.
You must not use any portion of the Website for commercial purposes or to receive payment from Members or users of family sites.
You must not advertise or sell products or services, except where this is permitted by us and by law and you comply with our terms.
You must not include links to third-party websites outside of Oret on our Website or Service.
Subscription and Payment
You are subscribing to our service which includes a 1-month free trial. After the free trial, you will be charged an annual fee of 2 USD to continue using the service. Payment be made in using our payment gateway provider Pesapal. The payment method is not automatic, which means that you will need to manually renew your subscription after the free trial expires. You will be notified before the trial expires and after. If payment is not received after the notification, you will not be able to access some services such as family tree until payment is received. You will be notified of these restrictions before and after the trial period expires.
Invited users
Users can also invite family members to join the website by sharing a unique link and code. The invited family member can then confirm their account details by entering their details and confirming their information. They can also set a password to access their account and proceed to the dashboard to manage their family tree.
Family Admin
As a family admin of Oret, your role is to create and manage families on the platform. This includes creating family trees, editing member profiles, changing family names and details such as tribes, and clans, and moderating the family.
You are responsible for ensuring that all content posted by family members complies with Oret’s terms and conditions. As the family administrator, you have the authority to add cover pages to family profiles and make decisions about the overall management of the family. You must use your administrative powers ethically and in the best interests of the families on the platform.
Additionally, as an admin on Oret, you are responsible for ensuring that the platform is used in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You must not engage in any activity that violates Oret’s terms of service, including but not limited to: impersonating another user, sharing your account information with unauthorized third parties, using automated scripts or tools to interact with the platform, or engaging in any commercial activity on behalf of a third party without Oret’s written consent.
As an admin, you must promptly report any suspicious or illegal activity to Oret’s support team.
you must maintain the confidentiality of all user data and information stored on the platform. You may not disclose any user information to third parties without their explicit consent, or use such information for any purpose other than the management of the family profiles on Oret.
File manager
Our family tree website provides a file manager that allows users to store and manage their documents securely. To ensure the proper usage of the file manager, we have established a set of Terms and Conditions that users must comply with.
Users are not allowed to upload any documents that contain illegal, offensive, or otherwise objectionable content. We take reasonable measures to ensure the security of the documents stored in the file manager, but we cannot guarantee that the file manager will be completely secure at all times. Users acknowledge and accept this risk.
We will not share any documents stored in the file manager with any third-party without the user’s explicit consent, except as required by law or per our Privacy Policy.
Family posts
Our family tree website offers a family post feature that enables users to share photos and text status updates with other family members. We also use the news feed to add posts about upcoming family events from the family calendar page to keep family members updated. Users are solely responsible for the content they upload to the news feed, including photos and text status updates, and must comply with our Terms and Conditions.
We reserve the right to remove any content that we deem inappropriate, and users are prohibited from uploading illegal, offensive, or otherwise objectionable material. Users must respect the privacy of other family members and not share any personal information without consent. We will not share any content posted on the news feed with third parties without the user’s consent, except as required by law or under our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the news feed or any part thereof, at any time without prior notice. Users may delete their own content from the news feed at any time, but we cannot guarantee that all copies of the content will be completely removed from the website.
Accuracy, Completeness, and Timeliness of Information
We are not responsible if the information made available on this site is not accurate, complete, or current. The material on this site is provided for general information only and should not be relied upon or used as the sole basis for making decisions without consulting primary, more accurate, more complete, or more timely sources of information. Any reliance on the material on this site is at your own risk.
This site may contain certain historical information. Historical information, necessarily, is not current and is provided for your reference only. We reserve the right to modify the contents of this site at any time, but we have no obligation to update any information on our site. Oret may maintain a presence on social media websites, including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter (collectively, “Social Media Pages”), to provide a place for the public to learn more about Oret and to share comments. All comments, visuals and other materials posted by visitors to our social media Pages do not necessarily reflect the opinions or ideas of the Oret. All visitors to our social media Pages must comply with the respective social media website’s Terms of Use. We review some but not all postings to our social media Pages, and may remove postings that we determine are inappropriate or offensive
Limitation
Oret, along with its licensors and affiliates, shall not be held responsible for the behavior of any member or user of the Website, whether it occurs online or offline. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we shall not be liable for any harm or loss, including but not limited to the loss of data, personal injury or death, violation of privacy, or any other consequences resulting from the use of the Website or the Service, any information posted on the Website, or any interactions between members or users, whether they occur online or offline.
Liability
Oret is not responsible for any errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation or transmission, communication line failures, theft, destruction, or unauthorized access to user or member communications. In addition, Oret is not liable for any technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, or failure of email or players resulting from technical problems or internet traffic congestion. Oret and its affiliates are not responsible for any damage or injury to any computer equipment belonging to any user of the Website, member, or any other person as a result of using the Website, viewing, playing or downloading any materials from the Website, or any other actions in connection with the Service.

Oret provides the Service and Website on an “as-is” and “as available” basis, and unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law, Oret disclaims any warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and satisfactory quality. Member disputes
As a member of Oret, you are responsible for managing any disagreements you may have with other members. Although Oret may observe such disputes, they are not obligated to do so.
